| The huge Model 1400 crane arrived in pieces carried on about 25 trucks. This truck is carrying one of the tracks. The smaller cranes were used to assemble the larger crane. |
|
| Three sizes of cranes were needed for the various stages of constructing the towers. | |
| The towers came in three sections that were hauled in on semis. Some were from DMI, a West Fargo-based subsidiary of Otter Tail Corporation. | |
| The white box on the pad is a down tower assembly (DTA) that is wrapped in plastic for transport and protection during construction. It has a door on the side for access. Inside is the generator breaker, a computer, and electronics for controlling and monitoring the wind generator. The bottom section of the tower slides over this DTA. | |
| Sometimes the weather was not cooperative for construction. First, there was mud to contend with. Later, extreme cold. | |

| October 17, 2007 - A milestone! The first completed wind tower, generator, and rotor assembly at the intersection of Highways 1 and 66 south of Langdon, North Dakota. |
