International Right of Way Association selects OTP for 2008 Employer of the Year
Fergus Falls, Minnesota - July 10, 2009 Otter Tail Power Company was selected as the 2008 Employer of the Year by the International Right of Way Association (IRWA). This international award is for all continents where IRWA has membership and affiliates. In addition to the United States, it includes countries such as Canada, Japan, South Africa, Spain, Uganda, and France. This is the highest level of recognition for an employer and the employees engaged in the right-of-way profession.Asset Management Support Manager Bob Krava, who supervises the company’s employees who procure real estate and right-of-way for electrical transmission and distribution lines as well as for other purposes, attended the IRWA convention in Indianapolis and accepted the award on Otter Tail Power Company’s behalf.“Our company’s involvement in numerous large transmission projects, successful accomplishments, positive impression in the industry, and public perception and acceptance are some of the criteria that prompts this recognition,” said Rod Scheel, Vice President, Asset Management, for Otter Tail Power Company.Also at the international convention the Dakota’s Chapter 72 IRWA was recognized for achieving the highest percentage gain in membership during 2008. Otter Tail Power Company employees are members of Dakota’s Chapter 72 IRWA, and this local chapter earlier had selected the company as its Employer of the Year, making it eligible for the international award.
