In December of 2005, out of concern for our customers and area residents as they faced high heating bills, we sponsored six free home energy makeover workshops. Seven winners of home energy makeovers valued at approximately $7,500 each were chosen from customers who applied after attending these workshops.
We announced those winners in spring 2006. Energy audits and blower door tests were conducted in the homes to help determine what work would be completed in each makeover.
Contractors now have completed the specific work required in most of the seven energy makeover homes. We focused on the three most important issues in home heating: occupant safety, integrity of the home, and energy savings.
