Thermal storage technologies

Rebates of $20 to $60 per kilowatt (kw) are available for new thermal storage technologies. Rebates vary by the rate on which thermal storage systems are installed. All rebates require a minimum installation of 9 kw .

RDC (241) – rebates of $20 / kw up to 100 kw.

Deferred-load (195/197) – rebates of $30 / kw up to 200 kw, then $10 / kw for up to 1,000 additional kw.

Fixed-time-of-delivery (301/302/303) – rebates of $60 / kw up to 200 kw, then $20 / kw for up to 1,000 additional kw.

Qualified thermal storage systems include thermal storage central furnaces, room units, underfloor cable or panel systems, or electric boilers installed to serve underfloor heating systems. To qualify, systems must be capable of storing adequate heat to warm the space during the maximum control period allowed by the rate. In combined thermal storage/air source heat pump systems this rebate applies only to thermal storage heating load.

CoolSavings air conditioning control

We install a radio receiver to cycle participants' air conditioners on and off every 15 minutes only under peak conditions to help manage summer electricity demand.

Participants receive a $7 credit on their monthly electric service from June through September.

Customer research shows that most CoolSavings participants stay cool and comfortable and aren't aware that their air conditioners are being controlled.
