The purpose of Change a Light, Change the World is to encourage the use of Energy Star-qualified compact fluorescent lightbulbs (CFLs) and to educate both customers and retailers about the benefits of CFLs.
To do so, we're running a special promotion from October 1 to November 30, 2008 with $2 per bulb instant rebates for CFLs, reducing the price to as little as 99¢ per bulb.
Watch for the rebate promotion in weekly flyers and on in-store posters and displays at the following locations in Minnesota:
- Ace Hardware in Bemidji, Perham, and Vergas
- Hardware Hank in Appleton, Ashby, Crookston, Hallock, Karlstad, Lake Benton, Morris, and New York Mills
- Home Depot in Fergus Falls
- L&M Supply in Bemidji ($1.50 per bulb rebate)
- Mills Fleet Farm in Fergus Falls
- True Value in Karlstad, Kerkhoven, Mahnomen, and Morris
This low cost was accomplished through a partnership of manufacturers, retailers, and utilities. By working together they hope to increase the use of CFLs as an energy conservation measure.
Fluorescent lamps contain a very small amount of mercury sealed within the glass tubing that is harmful to the environment.
