Residential Demand Control conservation program

Rebates for RDCs

Through the Minnesota Conservation Improvement Program qualifying customers may receive a free RDC unit with a one year free warranty service, and a $300 rebate—an $850 value.

To qualify customers must:

  • Be new to the RDC rate.
  • Connect a minimum of 10 kilowatts of new electric heat to the RDC unit.
OR - If new electric heating load is not being added at the same time as the RDC unit is being installed, then the customer must heat with electricity and show a minimum of 15,000 kilowatt-hours usage in the past 12 months.

Customers must sign a contract agreeing, among other things, to install the unit within 90 days.

An RDC is a monitoring device that notifies you of high demand and allows us to control your energy for electric space heating, electric water heating, and clothes drying during peak periods. Residential demand control encourages customers to use energy wisely and rewards them with prices for electricity that are about 30 percent lower than our standard electricity rates when averaged over 12 months.
