Lead Lineman

Location

Devils Lake, ND

Responsibilities

Successful applicant will supervise, direct and work with the crew to erect and install, maintain or repair overhead and underground electrical distribution and transmission systems and substations; where necessary, frame and erect poles and attach necessary fixtures and equipment; string, sag and splice conductors (wires) and connect transformer and other equipment; trim trees, replace such equipment as broken insulators, split crossarms, cutouts, ties, faulty clamps or braces; and perform similar replacement or repair work as necessary on routine patrol or to clear up storm damage. Use electrical instruments, operate hydraulic equipment, and work out of an aerial basket.

Qualifications

Must be a Journeyman Lineman with a diploma from an accredited line worker program or have equivalent experience. Must have an unrestricted interstate commercial driver’s license; positive leadership qualities and show an ability to plan, supervise and work with people and tools; an interest in teaching people working on the crew the lineman trade; thorough knowledge of electric line and underground construction, maintenance and repair; be able to work outdoors in any weather, able to climb, understand the mechanical equipment used in the trade, and have the ability to get along well with others. Journeyman Lineman/Service Representative

Responsibilities

We have an opening for a Journeyman Lineman/Service Representative in Cooperstown, ND.

Operates the electrical distribution system and serves as the Company representative in the designated group of towns. Installs, removes, or replaces meters in customer establishments. Transmission Land Specialist

Location

Within Otter Tail Power Company ND, SD, or MN Service Territory

Responsibilities

In this role, the Transmission Land Specialist will collaborate with the projects teams to ensure excellent project execution. Our successful employees ensure that our customers and communities have the power they need for modern life.

Examples of those activities will include:

  • Secure land rights through permits, licenses, easements, purchases, and other agreements.
  • Conduct title research to determine which parties must be included in various project discussions.
  • Collaborate with various teams to determine line route selection through reclamation for high voltage transmission lines.
  • Lead settlements of damage claims as applicable.
  • Our service territory includes eastern ND and SD and Western MN and during certain stages of projects, overnight travel to various locations within those states will be necessary to be successful. During those key times, up to 75% of time could be spent out of the office.

Reliability Engineer

Responsibilities

Our employees’ impact can take many forms. In this role, the Reliability & Data Engineer will provide engineering support and analysis to meet reliability goals to support the company’s mission.

Some of the details of the day-to-day include:

  • Provide engineering support and analysis to meet targeted reliability objectives and goals.
  • Drive improvements to system performance via recommendations and trending information.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to maintain accurate and consistent information for analysis and improvement.
  • Lead after event reviews of major interruption events and problematic circuits and provide recommendations for improvements.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain all existing and new power quality monitoring tools used in tracking and analysis and provide input into power quality investigations.
  • Act as a liaison between OTP business personnel and power quality industry experts.
  • Travel to job sites within SD, ND and MN required – typically this will be 4 site visits per month with about 10% of the travel requiring overnight stays.
Qualifications
