The Falls Inn And Suites Receives Rebate For Lighting Upgrade

The Falls Inn and Suites in Fergus Falls turned their lighting upgrade into big savings when they received a $15,000 rebate from Otter Tail Power Company for making energy-efficient improvements to their outdoor and pool area lighting.

Using Otter Tail Power Company’s Commercial Lighting Retrofit program, The Falls Inn and Suites replaced its outdoor metal halide lighting with high-efficiency light-emitting diode (LED) lights. “This part of the project was unique because The Falls Inn and Suites didn’t do a full fixture replacement but rather a bulb and ballast change out,” said Senior Commercial Industrial Representative Chris Waltz. “As a result, the light output remains the same, but energy and cost savings are significant.” In addition, the pool area received a full fixture and bulb replacement.

“Our existing bulbs were at the end of their life cycles, so we were ready for an upgrade,” said The Falls Inn and Suites General Manager Tom Larson. “We’ve already seen benefits through more attractive lighting in the pool area and a reduction in monthly electricity costs.” Larson was pleased with the process of working with the Commercial Lighting Retrofit program. “When you start talking about light fixtures, bulbs, and temperatures, it can get overwhelming. Otter Tail Power Company did a great job of making the process easy.”

Otter Tail Power Company’s Minnesota Conservation Improvement Program provides rebates, grants, education, special programs, and financing to encourage individuals and businesses to use electricity wisely. Learn more about this program on our Ways To Save page.
