Ben Svobodny

Ben Svobodny was named Vice President, Information Technology, in December 2025.

Svobodny has nearly 25 years of IT experience and began his career at Otter Tail Corporation as a Senior Security Engineer in 2017. He was promoted to Manager, IT Operations, at Otter Tail Power in 2021.

Svobodny earned his Bachelor of Arts in education from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota, and received Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification in 2020.

When he’s not at work Svobodny enjoys being in the woods near Itasca State Park, watching and playing soccer, and spending time with family. He is a member of both the M State Information Technology Advisory Committee and the MSUM Computer Science and Information Systems Advisory Board. Svobodny lives in Moorhead with his wife Allison and their two children.
