  • Close blinds or curtains during the hottest part of the day.
  • Use a programmable or smart thermostat to manage cooling.
  • Raise your thermostat by 1°-2°.
  • Adjust your thermostat by 7°-10° when sleeping or away.
  • Set and use your ceiling fan counterclockwise for summer cooling.
  • Seal air leaks around windows and doors to keep cool air in.
  • Air dry dishes instead of using the heated dry setting.
  • Wash clothes in cold water whenever possible.
  • Avoid using ovens and dryers during peak heat (midday/afternoon).
  • Replace or clean your air-conditioner filter monthly.
  • Enroll in CoolSavings to receive a bill credit during the cooling season.
