CoolSavings

Allow us to cycle your air conditioning during high demand and save.

Manage your air conditioning and save!

Save easy money by allowing us to cycle your system during periods of high demand. From June through September residential customers can receive $8.25 per month and business customers can receive $6 per ton of connected cooling per month.

We’ll install a receiver that controls your air conditioner at no charge. Then, during periods of high demand, we’ll cycle your air conditioner on and off every 15 minutes—keeping you cool and saving you money. Two-stage commercial units are controlled with one stage off throughout control while the other stage is permitted to operate.

Managing the electrical system during peak periods is one way we keep energy prices low.

Eligibility and detailsAC Disconnect Box

To be eligible for CoolSavings, you must:

  • Have a central cooling system—window and ductless mini-split units aren't eligible.
  • Stay with the program for a full year.
  • Be on a Residential, Farm, or Residential Demand Control Rate (for residential customers) or a General Service or Small General Service meter (for business and commercial customers).
  • Have a disconnect located on the outside of your home or business, adjacent to your central air-conditioning unit (shown at right).

Air-source and geothermal heat pumps may be included if they’re not already served by another controlled-service rate, such as our Dual Fuel Rate. We reserve the right to deny enrollment for  limited-use facilities and to cancel enrollment if you don't meet all terms.
