Edison Electric Institute (EEI), an association of investor-owned utilities across the United States, developed many of the tests. Journeyman Lineman or Well-Qualified Apprentice Lineman

Location

Devils Lake, ND

Responsibilities

We have an immediate opening for a Journeyman Lineman or Well-Qualified Apprentice Lineman in Devils Lake, ND.

Must be a Journeyman Lineman with a diploma from an accredited line worker program or have equivalent experience. Must have an unrestricted interstate commercial driver’s license; thorough knowledge of electric line and underground construction, maintenance, and repair; be able to work outdoors in any weather, able to climb, understand the mechanical equipment used in the trade, and have the ability to get along well with others. Successful applicant will be expected to reside within 25 miles from permanent headquarters in Crookston, MN.

Qualifications

Successful applicant will erect, maintain, or repair overhead power distribution system. Where necessary, frame and erect poles and attach necessary fixtures and equipment. String and splice conductors (wires) and connect transformers and other equipment.  Trim trees, replace such equipment as broken insulators, split crossarms or lightning arresters, retie tie wire, string and splice conductors, replace faulty clamps or braces, and perform similar replacement or repair work as necessary on routine patrol or to clear up storm damage.  Use electrical instruments, operate hydraulic equipment, and work out of an aerial basket. Perform such other related work as may be assigned.

Supervisor, Substation Projects

Responsibilities

At Otter Tail Power, our employees help us to serve the communities we support by producing reliable, affordable, and environmentally responsible electricity. In this role, Supervisor, Substation Projects will ensure that OTP substation projects are completed safely, on time and on budget.  
Some examples of those activities will include:
•    Project Management: Oversee all aspects of substation projects including estimating, budgeting, scheduling, resource management, and construction to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
•    Safety Leadership: Lead safety initiatives, foster a culture of safety, and ensure compliance with safety regulations during substation construction.
•    Construction Coordination: Coordinate construction efforts for new transmission and large distribution substation projects, manage electrical construction activities, and ensure timely completion of construction tasks.
•    Employee Engagement: Mentor and guide direct reports, ensure team productivity and engagement, and provide necessary resources for effective job performance.

Qualifications

•    Educational Background: Preferably holds a 4-year undergraduate degree in engineering with substantial work experience in substation construction. A strong background in substation design is highly preferred.

Manager, FERC/RTO Policy

Lead Buyer Purchasing System Administrator

Responsibilities

This position will manage the procurement of materials and services for projects and the day-to-day operations of the company and ensure compliance that each transaction aligns with OTP’s vision, mission, values and purchasing policies. Perform as a key point of contact for internal stakeholders on material needs. Identify, engage, and assist in the execution of Sourcing continuous improvement projects to streamline workflow, increase accuracy, and create efficiency. This position is accountable to administer and maintain the Oracle Procurement subsystem, monthly subsystem close, balancing, and reporting.  Leading and developing all Buyers by sharing knowledge and to serve as the key point of contact to Oracle SubSystem Administrators in identifying root causes for balancing issues within the Oracle General Ledger.  Monitor and enforce SOX key controls, maintenance, and reporting of compliance.  Track and manage software license renewals and subscriptions. Draft, review, and execute low-risk vendor contracts. Determines all Sales and Use taxes   are properly charged or accrued on PO Invoices. Works closely with Sourcing staff, Accounts Payable staff and Inventory Controls staff.  Provides onsite training and training via MS Teams to all Oracle users.  Backup administrator of Amazon Business Account.

 

Qualifications

The ideal candidate has a four-year degree in Business Administration, Sourcing, Accounting, Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience. Candidate should possess strong communication skills and works effectively within a team environment while also being capable of working independently. They have a basic understanding of purchasing processes, and contracting methodologies, and are comfortable using standard computer systems. With a focus on delivering excellent customer service, they demonstrate strong organizational abilities, effective problem-solving skills, and a self-directed approach to managing tasks and responsibilities.

Electrical Engineer

Location

Fergus Falls, MN

Responsibilities

An Engineer in System Engineering is involved in several aspects of the power system, with the majority of work related to the design and construction of transmission substations.  Duties include performing studies for new facilities, preparing electric system equipment specifications, applying electric system protection equipment, providing technical supervision during construction of major substations, and providing follow-up analysis of the performance of electric system protection equipment. Depending on experience, engineers may also take on project leadership responsibilities, provide technical guidance to others, and coordinate with internal departments, vendors, and field personnel. Travel throughout the Otter Tail Power system, including occasional overnight stays, is required.

 

Qualifications

We are looking for dedicated Electrical Engineers to join our substation design team, with opportunities available for all experience levels of professionals. This role supports the planning, design, and implementation of critical infrastructure that powers our communities. Candidates should hold a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, preferably with a focus on power systems, or possess equivalent experience in substation electrical engineering. Entry-level engineers will be supported through mentorship and hands-on experience in areas such as equipment layout, protection and control systems, and SCADA integration. For more experienced engineers, we are seeking individuals with experience in substation equipment and protection and control system design, along with demonstrated expertise in SCADA systems and substation construction and commissioning. Success in this role requires strong communication skills, the ability to manage multiple priorities, and a commitment to safety, reliability, and teamwork. We value engineers who are detail-oriented, self-motivated, and capable of solving complex problems in a mission-critical environment.
