Responsibilities

Some of the day-to-day responsibilities include:

Qualifications

Project Manager

·        Manage and lead all aspects of projects ranging from 1-5 year timelines and $5 million - $100 million budgets including preparing estimates and budgetary forecasts, managing consultants and contractor and track costs and progress

·        Identify and mitigate project risks

·        Manage projects portfolio for successful completion and ensure preparedness for future projects

·        Collaborate with the internal teams to ensure projects will achieve unimpeded and complete cost recovery

Manager, Renewable Operations

Regulatory Filing Coordinator

In this role, the Regulatory Filing Coordinator will coordinate and organize the preparation and follow through of information and documentation associated with regulatory filings, as necessary for state commissions and agencies, NERC, and FERC.

Administrative Assistant

Electrical Engineering Intern

Responsibilities

Otter Tail Power Company is currently seeking qualified student applicants to fill multiple Electrical Engineering Intern positions. The timeframe for this Intern position is from mid-May to mid-August 2025.

 The duties of the Intern may include:

1.     Perform various technical analyses of the existing and planned transmission or distribution system in the upper Midwest in order to reliably serve our customers while maintaining efficient use of the transmission or distribution system.

2.     Data gathering, system updates and supporting existing engineering staff with their on-going efforts.

3.     Work with computer software simulations to conduct various types of transmission or distribution system analyses.

4.     Utilize computer tools to monitor the performance of the transmission or distribution grid.  

5.     Provide software support within the Energy Management System related environments. Duties may include software development, display building and maintenance and development of application and user documentation. 

6.     Work closely with engineers, system operators and multiple departments as required to facilitate job duties.

7.     Perform various short circuit and coordination studies.

8.     Assist with relay and control design.

Qualifications

Looking for students in the electrical engineering curriculum with excellent organizational and written communication skills to draft accurate reports and make recommendations based on economic and technical support. The successful candidate will need strong oral communication skills and the ability to work together with people both within the company and with corresponding transmission counterparts at neighboring utilities. The successful candidate must have proficient computer skills with the ability to run various software applications and simulations including Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and Access.  Background in power engineering classes is preferred, but not required. Some travel may be required. The expected base compensation for this role is $17-$24 hourly.

GIS Intern

Responsibilities

Assist in data analysis, programming, and data management

  • Using ESRI GIS software for data analysis
  • Creating custom programming to analyze outage data, using Java, Python, etc.

Qualifications

Applicants must be a full-time student or recent graduate having a background in data analysis, programming, GIS or related program. This internship will be temporary from approximately mid-May 2025 through mid-August 2025. The expected base compensation for this role is $17-$24 hourly.
