Abercrombie Solar

Abercrombie Solar is a 295-megawatt solar generation facility we plan to build in Abercrombie Township, North Dakota. 

Once complete, we estimate it will provide $23.8 million in local and state tax benefits over the 35-year life of the facility and create approximately 300 construction jobs at peak construction.  

Powering the future 

Combined with our existing low-cost energy generation resources, Abercrombie Solar will be a cost-effective renewable energy resource for our Minnesota and South Dakota customers. Adding this significant energy resource to our generation portfolio helps us continue to deliver safe, reliable, and low-cost electricity to meet our customers’ growing energy needs. 

Timeline 

Pending approvals, we anticipate full operation of Abercrombie Solar in 2028.  

Location 

Abercrombie Solar will be located in Abercrombie Township, northwest of Wahpeton, North Dakota.
