Lead Lineman

Location

Harvey, ND

Responsibilities

We have an immediate opening for a Lead Lineman in Harvey, ND.

Successful applicant will supervise, direct and work with the crew to erect and install, maintain or repair overhead and underground electrical distribution and transmission systems and substations; where necessary, frame and erect poles and attach necessary fixtures and equipment; string, sag and splice conductors (wires) and connect transformer and other equipment; trim trees, replace such equipment as broken insulators, split crossarms, cutouts, ties, faulty clamps or braces; and perform similar replacement or repair work as necessary on routine patrol or to clear up storm damage. Use electrical instruments, operate hydraulic equipment, and work out of an aerial basket.

Qualifications

We have an immediate opening for a Lead Lineman in Harvey, ND.

Must be a Journeyman Lineman with a diploma from an accredited line worker program or have equivalent experience. Must have an unrestricted interstate commercial driver’s license; positive leadership qualities and show an ability to plan, supervise and work with people and tools; an interest in teaching people working on the crew the lineman trade; thorough knowledge of electric line and underground construction, maintenance and repair; be able to work outdoors in any weather, able to climb, understand the mechanical equipment used in the trade, and have the ability to get along well with others. Successful applicant will be expected to reside within 17 miles from permanent headquarters in Harvey, ND.

Senior Project Manager

The Senior Project Manager will lead the many projects that will ensure OTP meets its mission of providing reliable, low-cost and environmentally responsible power to its customers.

To achieve that, the Senior Project Manager will:

·        Manage a portfolio of projects through each phase of the life cycle including the resource planning, budgeting, regular risk analysis and post-completion phases.

·        Lead large scale project communications with internal project teams, external stakeholders and project support.

·        Create a culture of safety by overseeing the actions of internal and external resources involved in each project. 

·        Ensure compliance with all construction and design standards

Manager Property Accounting

This position will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the company’s financial reporting and controls by managing the Property function of the organization. This position requires a results-driven, self-starter with a proven record of leading teams in a collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

·        Responsible for the forecasting, accounting for, and reporting of the utility’s fixed assets

·        Accountability for maintenance of the fixed asset system

·        Accountable for the capitalization and unitization policies of the organization

·        Must have the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously

Qualifications

Must haves:

·        Bachelor’s degree in accounting

·        Minimum of 5 years management experience with multiple direct reports

·        Utility industry accounting experience

·        Detailed knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

·        Detailed knowledge of Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) Uniform System of Accounts

·        Knowledge of depreciation methods and practices

·        Ability to lead teams effectively with a continuous improvement mindset

The perfect candidate would have:

·        CPA certification

·        Utility industry accounting experience in the Property function

·        Utility industry accounting experience in an Investor-owned utility

·        In-depth knowledge of and experience with capitalization guidance and practices

·        Experience in PowerPlan fixed asset software

Project Engineer

Our employees’ impact can take many forms. In this role, the Project Engineer will lead all technical and engineering aspects of the projects required to help OTP meet our mission. 

Some of the details of the day-to-day include: 

  • Maximize project efficiency while balancing operational, maintenance and engineering requirements including collaboration with vendors and consultants  

  • Maintain a continuous improvement and long-term planning mindset to ensure projects utilize emerging and innovative technologies 

  • Ensure compliance with new and existing regulatory requirements for generator assets 

  • Manage engineering, equipment supply, and construction contracts.  

  • Strategize and recommend necessary maintenance and performance projects 

Qualifications

We’re seeking candidates with a wide range of skills who are obsessed with getting projects completed at an exceptional standard. Some examples of what we’re looking for include: 

  • A successful candidate will be able to manage the small details of a project including deadlines, while keeping the bigger picture value and vision front and center throughout the project development and implementation. 

  • This role requires excellent collaboration so communication and interpersonal skills are a must. 

  • Safety and community are key values at OTP and the Project Manager will lead on safety and environmental best practices and regulations.  

  • In learning the position, the Project Engineer will need to be able to learn accounting and purchasing practices to meet timeline and budgetary requirements. 

  • A bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering with knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and civil/structural systems associated with electrical generation is required.  

  • Physical requirements of the role include:  

  • Able to lift 50 pounds, climb stairs, work in hot, cold, dark, dusty, chemical vapors, noisy and confined environments, possess and maintain a valid driver’s license, sit or stand for long periods of time, and perform tasks that require manual dexterity.
