Responsibilities

Successful applicant will supervise, direct and work with the crew to erect and install, maintain or repair overhead and underground electrical distribution and transmission systems and substations; where necessary, frame and erect poles and attach necessary fixtures and equipment; string, sag and splice conductors (wires) and connect transformer and other equipment; trim trees, replace such equipment as broken insulators, split crossarms, cutouts, ties, faulty clamps or braces; and perform similar replacement or repair work as necessary on routine patrol or to clear up storm damage. Use electrical instruments, operate hydraulic equipment, and work out of an aerial basket.

Qualifications

Must be a Journeyman Lineman with a diploma from an accredited line worker program or have equivalent experience. Must have an unrestricted interstate commercial driver’s license; positive leadership qualities and show an ability to plan, supervise and work with people and tools; an interest in teaching people working on the crew the lineman trade; thorough knowledge of electric line and underground construction, maintenance and repair; be able to work outdoors in any weather, able to climb, understand the mechanical equipment used in the trade, and have the ability to get along well with others. Journeyman Lineman/Service Representative

Responsibilities

We have an opening for a Journeyman Lineman/Service Representative in Cooperstown, ND.

Operates the electrical distribution system and serves as the Company representative in the designated group of towns. Installs, removes, or replaces meters in customer establishments. Installs and maintains service lines, receiving customer complaints and performing necessary repair work to overhead distribution or service facilities. Works with and cooperates with Line and Service, Division Crews, or other line crews in building and repairing distribution and transmission lines and facilities.

Qualifications

Applicants must be sufficiently qualified as a Journeyman Lineman with a minimum of four years of experience and be able to do necessary emergency repair work. Must have knowledge of electric line construction, maintenance, and repair. Must be able to assume responsibilities for area operations, maintain favorable public relations, and supervise and instruct assistants as necessary. Sourcing Strategist

Responsibilities

Our employees’ impact can take many forms. In this role, the Sourcing Strategist will support and lead aspects of the Sourcing department’s processes to improve operations.

Some of the details of the day-to-day include:

  • Lead processes to ensure internal teams have necessary equipment, materials, or services.
  • Recommend and execute continuous improvement initiatives to improve efficiency, streamline workflow and increase accuracy of projects.
  • Create and foster vendor relationships to maintain purchase agreements, materials sourcing, and service arrangements.
  • Serve as key point of contact for internal coworkers on material needs and project planning.
  • Research, communicate, and adjust practices for changes in supply chain, product availability, and other changes that could adversely impact the company’s ability to procure materials and services.
Qualifications

Project Management Intern

Responsibilities

Our Project Management Intern will support all aspects of the project management team to ensure that our processes are completed as efficiently and high quality as possible. The time frame for this Intern position is from May to August 2024, approximately a 12-week duration.

The duties of the Intern may include:

  1. Get involved and learn the OTP processes and systems for transmission line projects that are currently in the engineering or construction phase.
  2. Perform various site visits and inspections and audits on multiple projects as needed to ensure the project is being constructed per the Engineering design documents and meeting quality control expectations.
  3. Assist with reviewing historical cost information on previous projects and develop detailed cost history for materials, labor, etc. to help OTP better prepare future budgets on upcoming projects.
  4. Support the continuous improvement efforts across the project management office.
  5. Assist with reviewing budgets, helping create cost estimates, work through the request for proposal process to receive material and contractor pricing for specific scopes.
  6. Work closely with project managers, project coordinators, administrative assistants, and multiple departments as required to facilitate job duties.
Qualifications

The time frame for this Intern position is from mid-May to mid-August 2024, approximately a 12-week duration.

The duties of the Intern may include using ESRI Desktop version 10.5.1 and ArcGIS Pro software to: 

  1. Assist in adding attribute data to company assets.
  2. Clean-up of the company electrical system, adding in critical features for electric connectivity.
  3. Spatial cleanup of company assets for better spatial accuracy.

Otter Tail Power Company has an opening for a temporary hire at Coyote Station, a 420 MW coal-fired electric generating station near Beulah, ND.

Job duties include mowing, trimming, painting, lifting, cleaning, and other responsibilities.

Qualifications

The applicant must be 18 at time of application, a 2024 high school graduate or currently enrolled in college, able to lift 40-50 pounds, operate a tractor mower and have a current driver’s license.
