Journeyman or Apprentice Service Representative/Lineman

Location

Sisseton, South Dakota

Responsibilities

Operates the electrical distribution system and serves as the Company representative in the designated group of towns. Installs, removes or replaces meters in customer establishments.  Reads meters, figures, makes up and collects some bills and follows up to collect delinquent accounts. Installs and maintains service lines, receiving customer complaints and performing necessary repair work to overhead distribution or service facilities. Works with and cooperates with Line and Service, Division Crews, or other line crews in building and repairing distribution and transmission lines and facilities. Executes switching orders from Load Dispatcher to open or close transmission circuits.  Performs such other functions as may be necessary to efficiently operate his area such as developing and maintaining favorably public relations and acting as Company representative on a local basis.

Qualifications

Applicants must be sufficiently qualified as a Journeyman Lineman or Apprentice Lineman and be able to do necessary emergency repair work. Must have a diploma from an accredited line worker program or equivalent experience. Must have knowledge of electric line construction, maintenance, and repair. Must be able to assume responsibilities for area operations, maintain favorable public relations, and supervise and instruct assistants as necessary. Must have a valid unrestricted interstate commercial driver’s license. Successful applicant will be expected to reside within 17 miles of permanent headquarters in Sisseton, SD.

Energy Management Representative

Location

Crookston, Minnesota

Responsibilities

Meet with commercial, industrial, and residential customers and trade allies to identify and evaluate the advantages of conservation and other demand-side management programs as well as productivity-increasing technologies to manage energy costs.

Qualifications

For this role, we prefer a bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering. Additional qualification as a Certified Energy Manager or Certified Lighting Efficiency Professional is beneficial.

Qualified applicant should have excellent interpersonal skills; the ability to work independently; solid negotiation, sales and leadership ability; comprehensive understanding and problem-solving skills for a wide variety of electric equipment, products, and systems including heating, cooling, ventilating, energy management, heat exchangers, air quality, water heating, solar, and process equipment; and general understanding of electrical theory and applications. Working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and building construction methods is needed.

Journeyman or Apprentice Lineman

Location

Langdon, ND

Responsibilities

Erect, maintain or repair overhead and underground electrical distribution and transmission systems and substations; where necessary, frame and erect poles and attach necessary fixtures and equipment; string, sag and splice conductors (wires) and connect transformers and other equipment; trim tree, replace such equipment as broken insulators, split crossarms, cutouts, ties, faulty clamps or braces; perform similar replacement or repair work as necessary to clear up storm damage. Must learn to use electrical instruments, to operate hydraulic equipment and to work out of an aerial basket.

Qualifications

Must have a diploma from an accredited line worker program and a valid unrestricted interstate commercial driver’s license. Must have knowledge of electric line construction, maintenance and repair; be able to work outdoors in any weather, be able to climb, have complete knowledge of safety rules and capable of getting along well with others. Successful applicant will be expected to reside within 17 miles from permanent headquarters in Langdon, ND.

Power Plant Operator

Location

Big Stone Plant near Milbank, South Dakota

Responsibilities

Assist dayshift Fourth Operator with Air Quality Control System (AQCS) equipment monitoring, operating and servicing.  When not conducting these jobs, the Fifth Operator will train for Fourth Operator duties.  Operate, monitor and service plant auxiliary equipment, including scrubber ash and lime handling, and reclaim, ammonia, activated carbon and other auxiliary systems related to AQCS. Assist in other areas as directed by the Chief Operator.

Qualifications

Specialized education and training, or documented experience in the operation and maintenance of high pressure steam boilers and power processes is required. Applicants must have a strong mechanical aptitude, thorough understanding of power generation and steam plant operations. 

Must be able to work in all weather, confined spaces and at height; be able to lift 50 pounds and wear a respirator; and hold a valid driver’s license. Preference will be given to applicants with an associate’s degree in power plant or process technology. 

Applicants will be required to complete an aptitude inventory.

Lead Lineman

Responsibilities

Qualifications

Must be a Journeyman Lineman with a diploma from an accredited line worker program or have equivalent experience. Must have an unrestricted interstate commercial driver’s license; positive leadership qualities and show an ability to plan, supervise and work with people and tools; an interest in teaching people working on the crew the lineman trade; thorough knowledge of electric line and underground construction, maintenance and repair; be able to work outdoors in any weather, able to climb, understand the mechanical equipment used in the trade, and have the ability to get along well with others. Successful applicant will be expected to reside within 17 miles from permanent headquarters in Devils Lake, North Dakota.
