Service Representative/Lineman

Qualifications

Applicants must be sufficiently qualified as a Journeyman Lineman or Apprentice Lineman and be able to do necessary emergency repair work. Must have a diploma from an accredited line worker program or equivalent experience. Must have knowledge of electric line construction, maintenance, and repair. Must be able to assume responsibilities for area operations, maintain favorable public relations, and supervise and instruct assistants as necessary. Must have a valid unrestricted interstate commercial driver’s license. Successful applicant will be expected to reside within 17 miles of permanent headquarters in Wheaton, MN.

Tax Analyst

Location

Fergus Falls, Minnesota

Responsibilities

Calculate and account for current and deferred Federal and State income taxes for both regulatory purposes and GAAP. Interpret and communicate existing tax laws, rules and regulations to management. Maintain tax depreciation software system and integrity of calculation for tax returns, accruals and forecasts. Perform monthly income tax variance analysis and effective tax rate reconciliations. Analyze income tax aspects of forecasted financial statements and company budgets for use in strategic planning. Forecast tax expense and cashflows. Develop and analyze long-ranged modeling of income taxes in Company’s budget software.  Deliver accurate income tax analysis and information for preparation of Cost of Service Study, regulatory jurisdictional reports, Federal  Energy Regulatory Commission Form No. 1 Annual Report and financial disclosures in the 10K / Annual Report to Shareholders.

Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, finance or equivalent is required. Preferred candidate will have knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), utility uniform system of accounts, tax accounting methods and general accounting policies and practices. Must be familiar with Federal and State income tax law and the Internal Revenue Code; tax depreciation methods and calculations; accounting and regulatory theories and methods; analysis of legislation, statutes, regulations. An understanding of utility ratemaking procedures, nexus concepts, apportionment methodology is helpful. Seeking candidate with expert skills in spreadsheets and budget/forecast software. Must have sound judgment, negotiation and persuasion skills, clear/effective written and oral communication skills, and the ability to work accurately under pressure, meeting deadlines.  Professional certification is not required, but preferred.

Engineer Intern

Responsibilities

Otter Tail Power Company is currently seeking qualified student applicants to fill one position for Mechanical or Electrical Engineer Intern at Coyote Station for a 9-month internship.

 The Engineer Intern will provide assistance to Plant Engineering in the following areas:

     Plant systems performance analysis

     Plant systems modification cost/benefit analysis

     Sub system Mechanical/Civil/Electrical design

     Electronic print updates

The position requires excellent written communication skills and attention to detail in order to publish accurate study reports and provide accurate drawing updates.  Furthermore, the role also requires strong oral communication skills used in working with plant staff and outside contractors and equipment vendors.
