Shift Supervisor

Coyote Station, Beulah, ND

Responsibilities

Supervise Coyote Station’s operations crews on shift in the production of electricity.  Responsible for safe and efficient operation of all production plant equipment in the station.  Oversee operation of all station equipment including the boiler, turbine-generator, scrubber, baghouse, coal and ash systems, cooling tower, circulating water system, water treatment, air and draft systems, transmission controls and switching, and all associated equipment. Report on the operation of the plant to the Operations Supervisor, System Operations, and other plant personnel in person and in meetings.  Troubleshoot problems with operators and decide when to shutdown equipment or call out craft personnel to repair problems.  Review and prioritize work requests for maintenance work. Ensure station compliance with all environmental regulations.  Ensure the safety of all plant personnel and equipment. Responsible for the administration of Coyote Station’s lockout/tagout, hot work permit, hazardous waste, and other operational procedures.  Conduct and supervise training of operators.  Perform all duties as required in a manner consistent with all company safety rules and use equipment and protection as required.

Qualifications

Requires comprehensive knowledge of all station systems and equipment, normally acquired through a minimum of ten years of education and/or power plant operations experience with increasing responsibilities. Also requires knowledge of air permits, hazardous waste disposal requirements, and union labor agreement.  Must have good written and verbal communication skills; computer experience in Microsoft Word and Excel; the ability to work well with people; and good leadership ability.  Must be able to act promptly and make decisions without supervision in case of emergencies.
